Pretty in Pink

The Authentique paper company is very quickly become one of my favorite brands. This Lively collection is fantastic eye candy. My only problem was which patterned papers to choose. There were so many beautifully colorful patterned papers, I had to have them all! So I decided in order to not make the layout to busy, I would use the approach less is more. So I used various size circles to unify the pattern papers. I sometimes forget that punches and dies are great aids to making fab layouts. My next die will be the hexagon... must have!

I love my Dog

As all of you know, my dog Riley is my baby (he's cuddled in my lap as I type). So it should come as no surprise that I have made yet another dog altered item. Upon seeing this awesome wood plaque and over sized bottle top ornament at Hannah's, I knew it would make a perfect display for his photos. I'm also OBSESSED with finding adorable dog paper and stickers. This Echo Park Woof! is perfect.

Rosettes and Altered Frames

Ok, by now you have all seen the adorable rosette embellishments that have been popping up in stores. There are even dyes and cricut cartridges dedicated to them. Well, I recently stumbled across a video on You tube teaching you how to make rosettes with nothing more than a scoring tool. My personal favorite is the Martha Stewart Scoring board. So of course I had to give it a try! What I love the most is that they are easy to make and can be made in multiple sizes and patterns to coordinate with any page or project.

My other new favorite thing are these great picketed fence frames from Hannah's. They are perfect for covering with paper and decorating to display a photo. Christmas is coming people, never to early to start making your hand-made gifts.

Dryer Sheet Flower

Every month I participate in a card exchange where we challenge each other to use new techniques/products. This month takes the cake! (thanks Tisha!) We made flowers out of USED dryer sheets, you read right, used dryer sheets. You know, those annoying static cling sheets that end up floating all over the house. Who knew there was a creative practical use for them?

For a complete tutorial click here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/dryersheetflower/

I choose to use a simple flower in varying sizes that I cut from my cricut (flower shoppe cartridge). I found it easier to cut the dryer sheet while adhered to a piece of cardstock. Then I sprayed them with Glimmer mist in Moonlight. Assembled with a brad, added some Platinum stickles and finished it off with some bling of course!

Now that I have something fun to make with used dryer sheets maybe I might actually enjoy doing laundry.... then again, maybe not. :)

Something New

As I sit here and attempt to create this blog, I feel proud. Before 5pm today I had no CLUE about gadgets, background or sidebars. And now I have created this. And in way, creating this blog is no different than trying a new stamping/scraping technique. The best projects come from taking a chance on something new. Thinking outside the box can open your eyes to all sorts of inspirational things. And although I have only scratched the surface on blog creating, I can say I tried it. :)
